Situated on a vast coastal strip between 5th and 6th mile of Port Dickson, Pantai Cahaya Negeri is claimed by many locals to be the biggest Port Dickson attraction with the most beautiful beach, and is lauded for its endless sea view over the horizon. It has one of the highest densities of family hotels and resorts within the area, owing to its natural beauty, wealth of public facilities and good infrastructure.

The main feature along the beach is an artificial cape that houses a recreational park lined with a wooden bridge, that links to a small mangrove island called ‘Pulau Burung’. 4. Visit the famous Sree Dugai Ambal Temple in Kuala Lukut

Temple devotees should not miss out on the Sree Dugai Ambal temple. Built in the early 1890s, the temple that has now become one of Port Dickson’s known attractions was first frequented by Indian plantation workers who received spiritual relief for their various problems such as diseases, financial constraints and social isolation.

Many unique spiritual experiences have occurred at this Port Dickson attraction including stories of a retarded devotee who alleviated her ailment by praying to the Goddess Ambal, and of a taxi driver acquiring prosperity by dropping off a passenger in the front of the temple. An auspicious ceremony is held in this temple during the month of ‘Adi’, whereby a 10 day celebration is held and the spiritual energy of the Goddess Ambal is at her peak.

Its low elevation means that freshwater swamp forest is quite prevalent, comprising about 15% of the total forest area. Within the forest reserve, there are a few patches of true virgin rainforest, the sites of long running plots monitored by FRIM (Forest Research Institute of Malaysia), some of which date back over 60 years.

While there, spot a 300-year old hollow tree and a 45m high Jelutong tree, the tallest in the entire state of Negeri Sembilan. 8. Discover the country’s rich military history and explore the underground tunnel at the Army Museum

Military enthusiasts will consider the Army Museum as one of the top things to do in Port Dickson. Nestled next to a Malaysian army camp, this Port Dickson attraction documents the army through the ages, including from the 16th century Melaka Sultanate through colonial occupation by the Portuguese, Dutch and British, followed by the Japanese occupation and Malaysian army, in two repurposed army buildings and nine galleries.

The outdoor exhibits on display, which includes an old steam train, medieval cannons, modern-day anti-aircraft guns, helicopters, tanks, cargo planes and fighter jets, are perfect for photo taking. At the centre of the museum’s compound is a monument dedicated to the fallen Malaysian soldiers. The monument consists of a towering obelisk and a majestic fountain, surrounded by four small obelisks, which are etched with the names and rank of the fallen soldiers.

One of the highlights of this Port Dickson attraction is the CPM (Communist Party of Malaysia) tunnel – a recreation of an underground tunnel used by Communist guerillas during the Malay Emergency. Entrance to this museum is free, and guided tours can be arranged with army personnel on duty for large groups.
